As the 20th Century was fading and the nervous world waited on the brink of apocalyptic ruination, the famed Seattle-based punkzine 10 Things was looking for cute punk girls to distract the masses and keep the civilization-hating, gate-crashing barbarians at bay. One of the voices loudly daring to answer this heroic call was Charissa Starr, making her now-historic debut as one of the most sought-after pinup models of our time.

Now elevated to the coveted status of Hotpunkgirl of the Week, Charissa fondly remembers some of her earlier gigs back in the dark days before solar-powered jet packs made carbon monoxide-choked morning commutes a thing of the past and the glorious Corey Feldman administration had America looking brightly forward again in a unity of vision not seen since the Chamelot years of JFK.

"I was an UltraViXXXen for MK Ultra Magazine," she says, "and when I wasn't christening battleships and cutting ribbons at casino-opening ceremonies as part of my UltraViXXXen duties, I was teaching American slang to Praga Khan and doing backup yodeling for Depeche Mode on the ill-fated (and all-but-forgotten) Lederhoser tour. I've also been featured on Spookygirls and worked with a variety of photographers like Mara Rago, Joe Jobe, Claire Litton, and Melvin Moten, Jr, and I'll be doing a shoot shortly with Jeff Klaum."

"I'm keeping busy and I'm having a blast!" Charissa insists, "But speaking of shooting, that's something I'd really like to do to all the stupid people who insist on breeding like viagra-wired bunnies."

She adds, "It wouldn't be with a damned camera, either."

While Charissa has found pinup modelling to be rewarding, her ambitions look toward someday owning her own store, overcoming pesky cat allergies to tame lions at the local safari park, and tending to her harem of skinny, tattooed hot punk boys.

Charissa invites you to have a look at her site and her Yahoo! group, and you'd better do it, too. Elsewise, it's probable she'll let loose with a bit of the old ultraviolence on your gulliver, and then won't you be sorry?

(Answer: Totally. You'll totally be sorry.)
